    School and Graduate Institute of Physical Therapy currently offers both undergraduate (bachelor's degree; B.S.) and graduate (master of science degree; M.S. and the doctorate program degree; PhD.) programs.

 

    Undergraduate Program

    The undergraduate program in physical therapy at National Taiwan University provides the training including basic scientific ability, basic medicine knowledge, clinical medicine knowledge, and physical therapy practice skills.  Its primary objective is to prepare competent and caring physical therapists who will be able to practice in a variety of settings and roles.

    A minimum of 140 credits is required to receive a bachelor degree in physical therapy. These consists of 110 required courses, including 30 credits of clinical internship, and 12 general required courses held by other programs.

    The School offers courses in introduction to physical therapy, functional anatomy, applied physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, manual therapy, electrotherapy, thermotherapy, functional training, basic techniques in physical therapy, orthopedic physical therapy, neurological physical therapy, cardiopulmonary physical therapy, pediatric physical therapy, seminar in physical therapy, and clinical practices.  In the senior year, the students are mainly engage in clinical practice in various clinical settings.     MS Program
     

    Physical Therapy only offers the Master of Science (M.S.) program.  The master program is intended for students with exemplary academic and professional credentials seeking advanced academic training in various fields related to physical therapy. It prepares critical thinkers and independent researchers so as to further expand the knowledge base of the physical therapy profession.

    The M.S. program consists of four major tracks: Orthopedic, Neurological, Cardiopulmonary,  and Pediatric tracks.  For all tracks, the M.S. degree requires a minimum of 30 credits of course work.  In addition to six credits of master's thesis work,  these credits consist of the Core, Area of Emphasis, and Electives.  For further information, please check

    It is strongly encouraged that students complete their degree within two years after enrollment.  According to the University policy, master students must complete their degree within six consecutive years after their first enrollment.
